Prog Palace Radio began late in the year 1999. We are now celebrating 25 years of steaming music.

This station began under a list of stations that didn’t have a name or type of music that it was playing. I began under a network of stations with the help of a friend who had stations playing mostly country and western. I was asked to start one while I was living in Atlanta and after consideration I couldn’t make it a country/western station because I had no music within that genre. All the music I had was in metal and leaning toward progressive metal. 

So I began the station under a number, to this day I cannot recall what it was, but it didn’t last very long. Within a few months I decided to change the name to The Prog Palace, but still with my friend and his list of stations. It was six months later I decided to venture out on my own, started a website and began streaming from the website. Due the required royalty fees I had to make the streaming separate from the website and linked it accordingly. It was about a year and a half later I considered changing the name. While The Prog Palace was a good name it didn’t have anything that connected it to being an internet radio station.
It would still be a few years before changing the name, but it was around 2003/04 I moved to Maryland and changed the name to Prog Palace Radio. The station continued to grow to what it is today and shortly after it became a Progressive & Power metal station having added Power Metal to the mix and slowly fading out Progressive Rock. 

I had originally wanted to have two stations, one for Progressive and Power Metal and another playing Progressive Rock. That dream came true in 2023, this was about a year after moving the station to Canada.

To give us two stations under the single name I created The Armory for the existing station playing Progressive and Power Metal and The Courtyard became the new Progressive Rock station. 

With the start of 2025 we began our 25th year streaming to the world. I don’t know what the future holds, but 25 years is a long time for an internet radio station. Over the years I’ve seen several internet radio station come and go, I’ve seen a lot of friends come and go as well. Some have passed away, some have moved on. Thanks to everyone from the past to the present for being a part of this station’s history.
